Summary

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House is a non-profit organization with a primary mission to preserve, interpret, and promote the Martin House, a National Historic Landmark and a premier New York State Historic Site. The Martin House seeks a full-time Communications Manager to share our story with the community to encourage visitation, engagement, and access.

The Communications Manager will work closely with the Executive Director, staff across departments, and external partners to develop and implement all of the Martin House’s marketing, communications, public relations, and brand management.

This is an exciting opportunity to share the story behind one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural masterpieces and be part of its rebirth after decades of restoration.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute the Martin House’s annual communications plan, including: e-newsletters, social media (Facebook and Instagram), print and digital promotion, public relations and earned media, newsletter development, and event marketing.
  • Maintain cohesive messaging and voice throughout all materials.
  • Manage and regularly update the Martin House website content, including program and event listings.
  • Manage annual communications budget to optimize dollars and drive results.
  • Collect and report on analytics data, adjusting plans and tactics accordingly.
  • Create and foster positive relationships with local, national, and international media to generate press coverage.
  • Work efficiently with external partners and vendors (graphic designers, printers, photographers, agencies, etc.) while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Work collaboratively with Martin House colleagues to support key events, the museum store, Statler Café, and year-round programming.
  • Responsible for content aggregation, including photos, videos, and other media resources.

 

Qualifications

  • A college degree OR relevant experience in marketing, communications, and related fields is required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with long-term interest in architecture, history, the nonprofit field, communications, and/or cultural tourism.
  • Exceptional communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Strong technological fluency and ability to learn new systems. Specifically, preference will be given to candidates who have familiarity with WordPress, photography, video usage, design software, and Microsoft platforms, or similar platforms. Experience with databases a plus.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and flexibility, with a high degree of comfort managing personal work flow (including multiple projects simultaneously) while adjusting to arising needs and seasonal fluctuations in workload.
