Description

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Associate Director of Membership and Annual Giving will help envision and execute all membership and annual giving efforts for gifts under $10,000. Through targeted direct marketing campaigns via analog and digital channels that include direct mail, email, website, and advertising, the Associate Director will establish strategic objectives and implement short-and long-terms tactics that leverage the Studio Museum’s brand and mission. The selected candidate will effectively grow awareness of the Studio Museum’s annual giving program, develop and implement a bespoke membership program, and increase our portfolio of donors as we enter the exciting next phase in the institution’s history.

 

Requirements

  • Establish and execute strategic vision for the Studio Museum’s membership and annual giving programs through the opening of the Museum’s new building. 
  • Refine and implement a new membership program with revitalized categories and benefits to include a founding member program. 
  • Develop membership programming and benefits that reflect the Studio Museum’s mission through close collaborations with colleagues. 

Membership and Annual Giving Marketing and Communications: 

  • With Director of Development and Marketing & Communications Department, develop calendar and strategy for direct mail and digital marketing efforts. 
  • Work with direct mail consultant and oversee all production needs; manage internal data sources and suppressions; list purchase/exchange selection and management; draft copy with support of supervisor; request design needs; work with mail house on regular match-back reporting.  
  • Aligned with direct mail messaging and timing, create strategy for all digital efforts together with Marketing Department including email annual fund and membership campaigns; paid and organic social media campaigns; remarketing across channels; and opportunities for A/B testing.  
  • Regularly write fresh copy and content to use across channels. 
  • With Membership & Annual Giving Associate develop special Member content for Studio magazine. 

Data Analysis and Strategy Development: 

  • Build framework for a customer journey utilizing marketing tools and automation set up in CRM around engagements with the Museum, incentive testing, renewals and reinstatements. Complete a funnel analysis of all marketing channel efforts to refine campaigns.  
  • Create analytic reports on each campaign (direct mail, emails, A/B test, paid social, etc.). Provide YTD revenue and channel analysis, and reforecast membership and annual fund projections quarterly.   

Benefits, Execution, and Administration:  

  • Create and implement an annual calendar of Member events. 
  • Identify opportunities for membership event sponsorship.  
  • Oversee gift entry and approve batches for committal to CRM. 
  • Ensure regular and consistent data hygiene in CRM including NCOA updates and data appends. 
  • Track area expense budget against projections and process invoices. 
  • Assist with the set up and implementation of Tessitura and all related marketing tools. 
  • Supervise the Annual Giving and Membership Associate, creating a mentoring environment through clear communications and reasonable setting of expectations. 
  • Discretely handle proprietary, sensitive and confidential information as it relates to Museum donors and their contributions. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
