The Coordinator, Exhibitions and Collection Management serves as administrative and logistical support primarily to the Chief Exhibitions and Collection Officer and other managers in the department, including the Assistant Director, Exhibitions Management, and the Audio/Visual Manager, as needed. This position is crucial to achieving the Museum’s stated strategic goal of increased support care of the collection, as it provides much needed assistance to the Chief Exhibitions and Collection Officer by handling a variety of tasks – such as maintaining the exhibition and activity schedules, budgeting, collaborating and supporting the development of the exhibition and collection care program.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Whitney’s exhibition schedule and distribute as appropriate
  • Maintain the Whitney’s exhibition history records
  • Assist in developing museum activity schedules for exhibitions and collection care, working with department managers to update and distribute
  • Assist in special project management in collaboration with the Chief Exhibitions and Collection Officer
  • Assist exhibition coordinators and registrars with varied exhibition and collection-related tasks
  • Act as departmental liaison for museum wide calendar, working interdepartmentally to coordinate activity
  • Collaborate on the development of new project management processes and software applications
  • Oversee ASCAP & BMI music licensing reporting

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Museum Studies or Project Management Preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience
  • Project management expertise, knowledge of spreadsheets and museum workflows
  • Knowledge of The Museum System (TMS), Asana, Microsoft 365, and Visio preferred.
