Job Title: Assistant, Office of the President

Salary: $60,000 – $70,000


The Assistant provides administrative support for the Office of the President and involves leading or assisting with special programs and events, maintaining informative resources, greeting, and assisting visitors to the office and notifying the appropriate person of their arrival, and assisting with general office duties. From time to time, secretarial support is also provided for the other offices in the Executive Suite.

This position will also be responsible for:

  • Leading or assisting with office projects as they arise, crafting and maintaining budget and informational sources, and preparing information for distribution.
  • Coordinating or assisting with organization of special events, programs and tours.
  • Responding to invitations.
  • Perform general office duties including tracking actual expenses against budget, arranging for payment of invoices, ordering supplies, scheduling conference rooms, answering phones, and generating correspondence.
  • Assist with Board of Trustee meetings and the assembly of Board Books as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the Office of the President.

The expected salary range for the Assistant, Office of the President is $60,000 – 70,000. This position is overtime eligible and the AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.

Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • At least one year of professional office experience and a detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and also a general knowledge of budgeting processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent organization skills, the ability to set priorities and complete work within established timeline, excellent attention to detail, proven people and social skills, patience, flexibility and have a clear respect and understanding of working in an office with access to confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong writing skills and knowledge of financial systems such as Oracle are preferred.
