Position: Studios Collections and Projects Manager
This collaborative and supportive team is focused on conservation, collections care, cultural heritage preservation, and disaster recovery. This position offers an opportunity for candidates to join a large-scale practice that is looking to grow and inspire the next generation of collections professionals which includes their ongoing engagement with an active intern/mentorship program.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist in the scheduling and planning for projects at the studios and on-site with clients
- Database and image asset management utilizing CatalogIt and an Apple/Mac based platforms
- Social media management of studio accounts, posts, and presence
- Managing staff coordination of small teams including pre-program and post graduate interns
- Managing project photo documentation, condition assessment reports, treatment logs, and object location tracking at multiple studio locations
- Writing Project Recommendation Proposals and Summary Report Invoices
- Filing and organizing business and office related documents
- Tracking and managing in-studio materials and supplies
- Updating Internship Orientation Guides, on-boarding new interns, and mentoring in collections care and management
- Project/Client interfacing, organize project work flow charts, tracking materials, supplies, time logs, and spread sheets
- Posting projects and treatment progress photos to the ACdRArtConservation Instagram
- Daily and weekly studio maintenance in the lab spaces, kitchen and laundry areas
- Basic Conservation Treatment knowledge–micro hepa vacuuming, CO2 Anoxia encapsulations, custom box enclosures, and hand sewing – a bonus
- Knowledge of infra red (FLIR) and UV light photography – a plusACdR Conservation in San Francisco has a full-time ongoing staff contract role for a Collections Care Specialist and Conservation Studios Manager ~ Application submissions and interviews are now open for a July/August 2023 starting date.
We are looking for applicants who have previous experience with Collections Management, Preventative Conservation, Studio Administrative and Project Management skills. A foundational knowledge of conservation treatment, and environmental monitoring at a technician level is preferred.
ACdR Conservation is a large multi-disciplinary private practice specializing in: textiles, objects, paintings, murals, decorative arts & sculpture, paper, and disaster recovery from mold, pests, and fire. This full-time position is for 4 days per week with a flexible start date in July, or August 2023. Requirements
Qualifications, Required Experience and Pay:
- Graduate degree in museum studies or related arts management program
- 1-3 years minimum of experience in project management and/or office coordination
- Experience with collections management and database processes
- Experience and proficiency with social media platforms
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven experience leading and collaborating in a team environment
- Experience with, and a passion for, client relationship care, and communications
2 years minimum experience in Collections Care, Registration, Preventative Art Conservation.
MA or certificate in Collections Management or Museum Studies preferred.
Must have prior experience with art handling and be familiar with conservation terminologies.

The studios run on an academic calendar year, with 1 month vacation for Summer Break in June, and 3 weeks vacation for Winter Holidays Break (from mid December).
