The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for an Associate Registrar in its’ Collection Management and Exhibition Registration (CMER) Department. Reporting to the Registrar for Collection, the Associate Registrar works independently on assigned collection tasks, including cataloging.
Additional Responsibilities Include
- Creates and develops detailed records of objects/components, assessing long-term housing needs, and overseeing packing.
- Prepares works for gallery changes and other display needs, and updates condition reports on objects of all mediums.
- Creates, compiles, and maintains all related documentation, including packing and installation instructions, and tracks installation costs/staffing needs for future planning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or bachelor of fine arts degree, master’s degree preferred, and minimum five years related experience in the field, preferably in an art museum with ambitious exhibitions, acquisitions, and outgoing loan programs, or equivalent.
- General knowledge of 20th-century art and familiarity with artists’ materials is also required, including facility with time-based media objects. Excellent communication and organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail essential.
- Reading knowledge of French and/or another language, in addition to English.
- Experience with The Museum System.
- The Museum participates in the TSA’s Certified Cargo Screening Facility Program. Therefore, any individual hired must successfully complete a security threat assessment through the Department of Homeland Security in order to participate.
Salary : The salary for this position is $86,474 per annum
