Description

Historic Deerfield in Deerfield, Massachusetts, seeks an Assistant Registrar to assist the Collections Manager with the documentation and care of the museum collection, and administration of loans and exhibitions. As a member of the Curatorial Department, the Assistant Registrar works collaboratively with colleagues to steward Historic Deerfield’s collections. The museum’s collections comprise approximately 32,000 objects including furniture, silver, textiles, needlework, clothing, ceramics, glass, metalwork, American engraved powder horns, paintings, and works of art on paper, as well as architectural fragments and archaeological fragments. Collections are exhibited in twelve historic houses, as well as exhibition galleries located in the Flynt Center of Early New England Life. Requirements

A bachelor’s degree and at least two years of museum experience is required. Master’s degree or graduate certificate in museum studies, library science, arts administration, or a related field preferred. Working knowledge of standards and best practices for museum collections care and documentation is required, as are organizational skills, attention to detail, and problems-solving skills.
