As the Advancement Coordinator, you will help realize this vision for hundreds of thousands of in-person and virtual visitors who engage with the Museum each year.
what you’ll do
As Advancement Coordinator, reporting to the Director of Advancement, you will be a critical member of the Advancement Team. You will help provide support for all of the Museum’s ongoing fundraising efforts and provide excellent customer service to donors and Museum members.
Duties will include:
- Assist with the development of grant proposals and other funding requests;
- Maintain and update the grants calendar and donor pipeline;
- Manage the donor acknowledgment process, including tracking, drafting letters, overseeing reviews and edits, and ensuring a timely delivery;
- Support advancement functionality in the Museum’s CRM (PatronManager), including gift entry and donor notes;
- Enter and maintain clean donor data and adjust records as needed to maintain data quality and ensure useful output of reports;
- Send weekly/monthly financial updates and reconcile donor database to accounting reports each month;
- Conduct prospect research (individuals and institutional donors);
- Support donor meetings as needed, including preparing agendas and developing donor briefs and proposal materials;
- Under supervision from the Advancement Manager, monitor membership email inbox for donor queries and respond in a timely manner to provide exceptional customer service;
- Under supervision from the Advancement Manager, coordinate the membership renewal process, including drafting copy for digital and printed outreach, reviewing and cleaning data to meet brand standards, and ensuring a timely delivery;
- Support annual appeals and fundraising efforts by managing vendor relationships, guest lists, and other administrative responsibilities;
- Provide logistical support for member and fundraising events, including Member Magic Mornings, Member Appreciation Week, and the Museum’s annual fundraising event; and
- Support other Advancement-related tasks as needed.

- Previous experience in the non-profit sector, preferably at a cultural institution;

- 1 year of relevant fundraising experience;

location
National Children’s Museum at 1300 Pennsylvania Ave NW, as well as at the Administrative Offices at 1275 Pennsylvania Ave NW.
hours
Full-time, 40 hours/week position. Must be available to work onsite from 9 am to 5 pm at least four days per week, and remotely one day per week. Occasional weekends and after-hours work are required for meetings and special events.

$40,000 – $50,000 commensurate with experience and skill set.
