The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is seeking a self-starter with excellent project management skills to join the Exhibition Planning and Publications department as an Exhibitions Project Manager.

The Exhibitions Project Manager supports the development and implementation of major exhibition projects organized by VMFA, focusing on concept, checklists, loan management, and overall project scheduling for multiple stakeholders though on-site and venue coordination. This position reports to the Senior Project Manager, Exhibitions.
Duties include:
- Manages the development and coordination of major, loan-based traveling exhibition projects organized by VMFA through active attention to project timeline, checklist, loan requests, meeting schedules, and coordination with multiple departments during project development and implementation.
- Completes exhibition packages for distribution to prospective venues with Senior Project Manager, Exhibitions; actively reviews trends and makes recommendations for additional opportunities.
- Facilitates approvals of exhibition elements with appropriate VMFA staff and others as advised.
- Manages queries from venues, image and content requests, and other exhibition-related information.
- Travels to prospective venues as assigned, and acts as spokesperson and representative of the exhibition, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Flexibility with work schedule and availability. Employees may be required to work overtime during staffing shortages, peak workload periods or in bona fide emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exceptional project management experience in a museum, university or similar workplace.
- Graduation from a college or university with major course work in Art History, Museum Studies, or related field or equivalent applicable training or experience.
