Job Title: Director of JEDAI & Community Engagement 

Job Status: Full-time

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Salary:  $60,000 – $70,000


Description

The Director of JEDAI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Accessibility, and Inclusion) and Community Engagement is responsible for providing dynamic leadership around the development, implementation, and management of effective JEDAI strategies and policies while also leading community outreach, engagement, and partnerships. This position works collaboratively and strategically to build community; support a culture of learning, reflection, and improvement; nurture sustainable organizational change; and foster a just, equitable, diverse, accessible, and inclusive environment for employees and visitors. The Director of JEDAI and Community Engagement advances institutional initiatives and leads community-based engagement efforts to fulfill the museum’s mission of providing innovative and inclusive museum experiences that inspire kindness, joy, creativity, and curiosity for all learners.

 

Requirements

Experience:    

Five years or more of progressive experience leading organizational JEDAI initiatives.

Education:      

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience leading JEDAI programming, advocacy work, community outreach, and organizational change initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to advance JEDAI initiatives and organizational change
  • Prior engagement with frameworks of anti-racism, anti-ableism, queer and feminist thought, restorative justice, or related approaches preferred.
  • Proficiency working with people of all ages from diverse races, ethnicities, genders, abilities, and other backgrounds.
  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) preferred
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily;

Work Environment, Hours of Work, and Travel Requirements:        

  • Occasional travel, evening, and weekend work is required;
  • Essential duties of this position will be performed in a museum environment, which includes interaction with the public and exposure to children and families.

Clearances:     

FBI fingerprint, PA Child Abuse (Act 33) and PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearances are required.
