Exhibit Fabrication Field Manager at the Science Museum of Virginia

Job Title: Exhibit Fabrication Field Manager

Job Status: Full-time

Location: Richmond, VA

Salary: $65,000.00 – $90,000.00

Description

The Science Museum of Virginia has an air hockey playing robot. Want to be in charge of it?

The Science Museum connects the community with the science all around us through hands-on exhibits. Exhibits are kind of our bread and butter. So, saying that we’re looking for a rockstar Exhibit Fabrication Manager might be an understatement. That’s because this person will manage the production, design and maintenance of the current (and future) exhibits that make the Science Museum the interactive and memorable museum it is.

The Exhibit Fabrication Manager will ensure that existing exhibits are running in tip top shape (and quickly troubleshoot things when they aren’t) and will work across departments to conceptualize and realize new exhibits designed to get guests thinking. One day may involve designing a base for a T.rex skull to rest on and the next could include installing a human-sized hamster wheel. But this role doesn’t just focus on permanent exhibits. The Exhibit Fabrication Manager also plays a critical role in managing the installation of large-scale touring exhibitions two to three times a year.

So, if you’re a natural problem solver who loves to dream up new ideas and see those ideas come to life, then continue reading and consider joining one of the quirkiest teams in town!
