(P/T) Financials Administrator at The Center for the Humanities at CUNY Graduate Center

Job Title: Financials Administrator

Job Status: Part-time

Location: New York, NY

Salary: $21.79/hr

This part-time position will work 20-hours per week. We are looking to fill this position immediately, so we encourage people to apply ASAP.

The Center for the Humanities at the CUNY Graduate Center is looking for a thoughtful person with financial/organizational savvy to join our excellent team as a part-time administrator. This flexible position follows the current work-from-home policy set by CUNY (70/30) and is open immediately. It pays $21.97 an hour; is a 20-hour a week commitment; and offers union; health, and dental after three months.

The financials position can be quite autonomous or engaged with project-based work, as it suits the applicant. It is a great job for someone building their resume and/or a portfolio of impressive and deeply needed skill-sets while pursuing creative, intellectual, and other professional pathways adjacent to the cultural/university sector.

The work is financials, meaning, pushing paperwork and payments through the business office to ensure the Center’s many collaborators are paid in a respectful and efficacious manner. The financials administrator will monitor soft and tax levy funds, run and maintain reports, submit purchasing requests, manage accounts payable, and track/administer budgets for grant reporting. They will report to the Director of the Center for the Humanities. They will work in conversation with the Center’s team, the GC Business Office, the GC Purchasing Office, the RF, CUNY Central, vendors, and community partners.

While nonprofit administrative experience is a plus, an enthusiasm for the Center’s overall mission, a commitment to high-quality work, and a willingness to learn are paramount. The position ultimately requires attention to detail, respect for colleagues working within and beyond the university, and a willingness to engage patiently and exactingly with bureaucratic processes to ensure that payments are processed in fair and timely fashion.

The nicest part about working on finances in this environment is that there are many ways to learn and grow at the Center and the whole team is creative, community and growth-oriented, and kind.
