Development Graduate Intern at The Drawing Center

Stipend: Stipend is $500/month: $2,000 for a 4-month internship working 2 days per week


The Drawing Center seeks a dynamic and motivated Development Graduate Intern to assist its Development department with event planning, fundraising initiatives, and administrative duties.

This opportunity is ideal for a graduate student or recently-graduated individual, who will be able to hone in on their skills in all aspects of fundraising at a small nonprofit arts organization. Skills that will be developed include (but are not limited to) event planning and coordination, grant writing and reporting, research and writing, managing donor correspondence, and donor database management. Due to the small size of TDC’s team, this individual will be involved with multiple departments, including the Director’s Office, Curatorial Team, Communications and Marketing, and Education and Community Programs. Following the successful completion of their internship, interns will be able to return to the Drawing Center team for career advice, references, and letters of recommendation.

The Development Graduate Intern will be working on-site at The Drawing Center 2 days a week, from 10am to 6pm, for a period of 4 months, from March 1 through June 30, 2023. A $500 monthly stipend is provided, for a total stipend of $2,000.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with preparations for TDC’s Spring Gala, Benefit Auction and other fundraising events, including gatherings for major donors and affiliate groups
  • Providing support for grant writing and reporting, and conducting foundation research
  • Producing acknowledgement letters and other donor communications
  • Maintaining accurate donor records in Salesforce
  • Assisting in the implementation of The Drawing Center’s membership program
  • Collaborating with development team to brainstorm and implement ideas to cultivate, support, and steward new and existing donors who are passionate about our work
  • Providing general administrative support to development office and other duties as needed

 

Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable of arts and culture/non-profit organizations, particularly development/fundraising preferred, but not required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong computer skills and experience working with a donor database (Salesforce a plus)
  • Self-motivated, exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, very detail-oriented, ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
