International Arts & Artists (IA&A), a Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization is seeking a Museum Registrar with 3 or more years of museum registration experience including both national and international art shipping experience to join its Traveling Exhibition Service (TES). IA&A’s Traveling Exhibition Service has produced and toured fine and decorative arts exhibitions nationally and internationally for 25 years, reaching millions of people. It is one of the largest producers of traveling art exhibitions in the US, with over 100 unique exhibitions developed and 15-20 exhibitions touring at any given time. IA&A has facilitated over 800 exhibition presentations in museums across all 50 states and 24 countries. Its Traveling Exhibition Service partners with a wide range of lenders to design exhibitions to foster cross-cultural dialogue and understanding beyond geographical divides.

Working with the Senior Registrar, this position is an essential part of the team that is responsible for managing logistics of current exhibitions and instrumental in developing and launching new and exciting exhibitions. 

Responsibilities include finalizing object and crate checklists, coordinating shipment logistics, and traveling to venues as a designated IA&A representative and courier. The Registrar is a vital contact for IA&A exhibitions on tour and manages all logistics with a high level of professionalism, adhering to museum standards and best practices as well as IA&A’s expectation of providing superior service to our lenders and venues.

Additionally the registrar manages the permanent collection of 400 works of contemporary prints, drawings, paintings, and sculptures. Those responsibilities may involve but are not limited to preventative maintenance, cataloging, and inventory.

IA&A’s offices are located in the historic Dupont Circle neighborhood in Washington, DC. Partial or full onsite work is encouraged but negotiable.
