Creative and Public Engagement Assistant, Flex position
POSITION PURPOSE:
This position reports to the Manager of Creative and Public Engagement. As a part of the Creative and Public Engagement team, the Creative and Public Engagement Assistant will assist with multiple programs that encourage all ages to explore and witness the creative process. This individual will contribute to the advancement of the Museum’s efforts to be a vital, vibrant, and relevant part of the creative ecosystem of Denver. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with accounting and honoraria payments across the division for all programs and spaces including, but not limited to: Untitled: Creative Fusions, Creative Classes, Creative-in-Residence, Hamilton Studio, Demonstrating Artist program, Creative Hub, and Community Spotlight.
- Assist with all administrative tasks related to all programs including supply management, event logistics, facility work orders, artist contracts, etc.
- Interface with Events, Security and Facilities, Visitor Services, Communications, and Exhibition departments to support all programs.
- Support formal and informal evaluation studies of all current and future programs to gather feedback from artists, visitors, and community.
Assist with programming, operations, and logistics for the quarterly after-hours Untitled: Creative Fusions program:
- Support the Manager of Creative and Public Engagement in collaborating with artists in the development of a range of activities inspired by the DAM’s collection.
- Support logistics including scheduling meetings, creating event diagrams, AV set up notes, facility set up notes, and processing payments and invoices from artists.
- Work with Untitled program team to select artists that align with theme and exhibitions.
- Communicate with creative partners for promotional content, site visits, and night of logistics.
Assist with operations, logistics, and materials management for the Creative Classes program:
- Assist with teacher selection, communication, and onboarding.
- Responsible for materials ordering and invoicing.
- Support logistics for special set up diagrams, facilities notes, and AV needs.
Assist with Hamilton Studio + Demonstrating Artist program:
- Assist with administrative tasks related to supply management, paperwork for display and demo artists, and artist communications, etc.
- Support the development of the Hamilton Studio.
Assist with Community Spotlight program
· Support Community Spotlight logistics through scheduling meetings, facilities notes, AV needs, catering needs, and gathering promotional content from partners.
Assist with Creative Convenings
- Support logistics including creating event diagrams, AV set up notes, facility set up notes, catering needs, and scheduling meetings with partners/creatives.
- Consistent usage of the Racial Equity Lens in day-to-day operations
- Yearly goal setting to support Racial Equity Roadmap initiatives
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Skills, etc.):
- 1 year working in a cultural institution, arts organization, or museum
- Experience connecting and working with artists and the larger Denver creative community
- Experience in event planning and coordinating logistics
- Experience in creating artistic experiences for adults
- Strong commitment to creating effective, enjoyable art experiences at a museum for diverse audiences
- Ability to be a strong team player and to work in collaboration with others internally and externally
- Ability to work with a variety of people on simultaneous projects
- Some evenings and weekends required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY
- Highly organized, independent, self-reliant, ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to problem solve quickly and creatively
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Knowledge of multiple artistic processes
- Public speaking skills and facilitation skills for small and large groups
- Knowledge and/or experience with informal learning settings
- Strong customer service skills
- Computer literate (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
EDUCATION
· B.A. Degree (or equivalent experience)
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
- Some evenings and weekend days required
- Variety of work environments including administrative office, interactions with visitors and artists, interdepartmental meetings, and possibly in-community spaces
Pay: The hiring hourly range for the position is $18.99-$23.17 based on experience.
