Internship available at The Hill Art Foundation
Description:
The Hill Art Foundation is looking for a fall intern to learn the day-to-day operations of a non-profit exhibition and education space located in the heart of Chelsea. The intern will assist the small HAF team with visitor services, teen education programs, and other administrative and exhibition-related tasks. This internship offers the opportunity to further develop knowledge about cultural institutions throughout the metro area and build upon a professional skill set through first-hand experience
working with a wide range of arts and education professionals. This is an hourly paid ($20 per hour), in-person, semester-long position with an opportunity for renewal.
The intern will:
● Welcome visitors at the front desk
● Work with the Associate on developing social media content
● Work with the Associate and Educator in coordinating our two teen education programs, Teen Curators and Teen Educators
● Assist with image permissions and proofreading an upcoming publication
● Perform administrative duties as needed, including completing mailings, organizing contact information, maintaining our website, and contributing to social media
● Provide support during and leading up to events such as openings
● Maintain and improve our website, including organizing media storage and writing alt text
Requirements:
● The ideal candidate is a graduate or undergraduate student based in NYC with a background in Art, Art History, Arts Education, or Arts Administration
● Availability two days a week (and some evenings for events)
● Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
● Interest and familiarity with social media, especially Instagram
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GSuite
● Familiarity with PhotoShop and Adobe Acrobat a plus
● Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) or World Health Organization (WHO) authorized vaccine (or approved for an exemption as a reasonable accommodation due to a qualified disability or sincerely held religious belief or other legal basis)
