Description

The Digital Content Associate is a key member of our growing Engagement division, working with staff within the team and across the entire museum to make the content on the Brooklyn Museum’s website and digital platforms dynamic, informational, and fun.

Reporting to the Senior Web Content Manager, the Digital Content Associate will act as a traffic manager to publish content on the Museum’s website via the CMS; keep programming, educational, and other event information up to date; brainstorm, plan, and produce new content across platforms; and help ensure that the website is part of an excellent experience for visitors, for Museum Members, and for art lovers around the world.

The Associate will also play a key role in one of the Museum’s major upcoming projects: the redesign of the BrooklynMuseum.org website.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary publisher of content on the BrooklynMuseum.org website. Work within content management system to cleanly format images, videos, and text using existing templates and custom pages to create beautiful, informational, and accessible web pages
  • Help brainstorm and produce editorial content originating with the Engagement team, including special pages and content streams for exhibitions and institutional priorities, activations of permanent collections, and content for apps, social media channels, and email program
  • Manage publication requests from other teams within the museum: take in correspondence, gather missing information, oversee content through the editorial and quality-assurance process, and publish to the web
  • Act as the keeper of the Brooklyn Museum web calendar, working with Programming, Education, Development, and other teams to keep event information up to date for an excellent visitor experience
  • Work closely with the digital content team and Digital Project Manager to develop and implement improvements to internal publication and content production processes, guidelines, and forms
  • Help manage content approval processes where needed
  • Help assess performance of content on the website and other channels, pulling statistics and presenting to the team as needed

 

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • At least three years of digital experience at a digital-media outlet or mission-oriented organization
  • Prior writing and/or content production experience
  • Experience and medium proficiency or higher with HTML/CSS
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills, capacity to manage different workstreams and projects simultaneously, and ability to balance near- and long-term deadlines
  • Exceptional attention to consistency and detail
  • Experience using WordPress or a CMS equivalent
  • Experience with project management software is preferred, but not required
  • Bonus: Love of art and visual design!
