Salary:  $45,000.00 – $52,000.00 


Description

The Curatorial Assistant (CA) is vital to all curatorial matters at the Tang, including research for exhibitions and collections; writing texts for exhibitions, catalogues, and the website; coordinating artist visits; and supporting the production and distribution of publications.

The CA collaborates with faculty and students to teach with the museum through class visits, class-based exhibition making, and programming. The CA creates collection-based projects that prioritize artists and ideas focused on diversity, access, and racial justice as part of our commitment to Skidmore’s broader institutional diversity efforts. The CA mentors, trains, and oversees student interns in pre-professional museum roles within the curatorial department.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art, Art History, Museum Studies, or other relevant subject is required, Master of Arts preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Focus in contemporary art and curatorial studies along with 2+ years of work experience. Excellent computer skills, research, writing, and editing experience needed. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is a must. Experience installing and designing exhibitions and working with living artists is helpful.
