Job description
The Institute of Fine Arts Library is looking for an undergraduate or graduate student to help library staff with daily, routine library operations. Duties include, but are not limited to, scanning resources, checking out and checking in library material, locating items in stacks, re-shelving materials, and book labeling.

This position is designed to enrich studies and professional training with hands-on experience in various aspects of academic art librarianship. The student assistant will receive training and support from a library supervisor to assist with day-to-day tasks. Additionally, they will work with their supervisor to conduct a specific project that helps inform collection management decisions and extend access to collections in support of research, teaching, and learning.

Qualifications

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to process a large quantity of work while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Successfully demonstrated ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, reliability, punctuality and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to push a loaded book cart.

Compensation

Undergraduate Specialized Student Assistant – $18.75

Graduate Student Assistant – $26.75

Hours

5 hours scheduled within library office hours, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
