Position Description

Bark Frameworks, an employee-owned, custom framing and art services company in Long Island City that has been leading the industry since 1969, seeks an experienced candidate for the position of Registrar. This position is client-facing and requires meticulous attention to detail, a personable demeanor, and the ability to multitask and stay level-headed in a fast paced, deadline-based environment. The Registrar will work heavily with our Design and Production depts., and carry out customer service duties, production control duties, and traditional registration functions.

Please note: This position reports five days a week to our LIC shop; this is NOT a remote position.

 
 
 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that artworks are registered and properly stored, handled, and delivered.
  • Manages truck deliveries and pickups of artwork around New York City.
  • Manages installation schedule.
  • Handles client and vendor inquiries in person, via phone, and the website.
  • Keeping aware of production schedule, to update clients.
  • Key interface to Production and Design depts.; performs Production control duties, like checking job sheets daily.
  • Oversees Administrative Associate and two Truck/Art Handler employees.
  • Fulfills, packages, and ships orders from online store.
  • Helps with special projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in Registration in the art/museum/gallery field.
  • Experience managing national and international shipping and logistics.
  • Candidate must be well-spoken, presentable, and punctual.
  • Candidate should possess superior customer service skills, exercise discretion, and have the ability to communicate effectively with a range of personalities.
  • Candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm demeanor.
  • Thorough knowledge of best practices for safe art handling and storage.
  • Passion for the industry and dedication to absolutely the highest standards of professional conduct.
  • Must be able to lift 50-60 lbs / intake and delivery of artwork.
  • Knowledge of database systems preferred.
  • License/ability to drive a cube truck a plus, but not required.
  • B.A. in art, art history, or similar background preferred.
