A four-acre campus comprises the 1885 Ballantine House, a National Historic Landmark; the Alice Ransom Dreyfuss Memorial Garden; and Horizon Plaza. Under the leadership of Director/CEO Linda C. Harrison, the NMOA has launched an era of transformation to create an engaged citizenry by reimagining the role of the art museum for the 21st century.

Position Summary:

The Newark Museum of Art seeks a qualified candidate for our dynamic organization in our Marketing and Public Relations Department. To continue to build the reputation of The Newark Museum of Art as a progressive, distinctive, and bold leader in the museum field, the Digital Designer will create all assets for digital design in Marketing. The position will also create graphic design elements as needed.

Support the Museum’s efforts to present and maintain a favorable, high-profile, and consistent public image, and to heighten awareness of Newark’s role as leading cultural and educational institution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create digital assets for multimedia and graphics projects, including websites, mobile apps, advertising, animation, emails, social media, and interactive displays

• Keep individual deliverables organized and on task through project management tools

• Review design briefs and add deliverables to team production calendar

• Create digital assets (static, video, and HTML) for a range of platforms (social, display advertising, eCommerce, websites, mobile apps, etc.).

• Create website assets from hero design to web animations.

• Quickly translate ideas into sketches, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.

• Supervise physical installation and develop non-digital graphics occasionally.

• Support creative director with general administrative tasks and organization

• Comfortable communicating with external vendors on projects from start to finish

Qualifications:

• BA, BS or BFA in design, marketing, communications, or equivalent experience

• Minimum of 2-4 years in a cultural or arts entertainment environment

• Proficiency with Adobe Creative suite

• Working Knowledge of CSS and HTML

• Be familiar with email marketing platforms and website CMS

• Understanding of Teams, Microsoft Office Suite, and other communication tools

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to effectively work with a wide diversity of people

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Creative, resourceful, entrepreneurial mindset, with a roll-up-your-sleeves mentality

• Ability to evolve with creative technologies

• Resourceful individual who can manage a project from start to finish
