GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
The Associate Project Manager for Exhibitions and Special Projects is primarily responsible for logistical planning and implementation of department-wide special projects, including exhibitions at The Met Cloisters and permanent gallery re-installations at the Met 5th Avenue. This position will also play a key role in realizing the department’s curatorial vision and long-term goals, which embrace accessibility, sustainability and community engagement. The successful candidate will assist curatorial staff in planning the timeline and details of the department strategy and ensure that milestones are met. The Associate Project Manager for Exhibitions and Special Projects is supervised by the Curator and Manager of Collection Strategy and works in concert with the staff of the department and other teams across the Museum. The successful candidate must be adept at multi-tasking, function well under pressure and with interruptions, shift job responsibilities easily, be resourceful, and maintain a professional demeanor with both the staff and the public. Candidate must work well and produce results both independently and as part of a team. Routine travel between The Met Fifth Avenue and The Met Cloisters in order to participate in organizational and project-based meetings is expected.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Partner with the Curator and Manager of Collection Strategy on the implementation of the department’s curatorial vision and long-term planning, including working with key stakeholders to develop plans and budgets, scheduling and facilitating project meetings, tracking and amending project workflows as necessary, and assigning and tracking progress on deliverables.
Working with the collections manager and appropriate curator(s), maintain and manage exhibition checklist(s) for Cloisters exhibitions, TMS records, budget(s), label submissions, and web initiatives.
Serve as one of principal institutional representatives for projects involving outside collaborators, such as artists and their studio representatives or community organizations, in cases where The Met Cloisters develops projects with external partners.
Follow recommendations from collections manager for Medieval Art and The Cloisters on maintaining object files at The Cloisters and developing TMS records related to assigned special projects.
Provide logistical support for the Cloisters Working Group with the Director’s Office and other interdepartmental projects.
Expand department’s organizational systems and processes and oversee upkeep in consultation with colleagues across the Department.
Other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience and Skills:
2-3 years of experience with exhibition planning and/or project management.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow through.
Familiarity with TMS or other collections management program preferred.
Must be able to coordinate and accomplish multiple tasks concurrently, while prioritizing requests.
Must have strong and creative problem-solving skills and be self-directed.
Knowledge and Education:
B.A. or equivalent required [removed art history]
Experience in museum, arts, or cultural fields
Strong computer skills required: MS Office including Excel, Teams, Word, NetX, PowerPoint and PhotoShop and Project Management tools (e.g., Trello, Hive, etc.).
Excellent interpersonal skills required, ability to interact with all levels of management and variety of personalities.
Familiarity with neighborhoods surrounding The Cloisters desirable.
Spanish language ability desirable.
