Freelance Collections Management Position Available

Description of Position:
Private art collection seeks a highly motivated freelance database assistant to complete Collections Management work centered around database recovery and enrichment. The work will primarily entail correcting some problems with the
database (Museum Plus) that persist as a result of a recent data migration. The assistant will work closely with the Senior Collections Manager to make tangible progress on the database and its content. Though the assistant’s hours will be largely self-determined, guided by a series of deadlines to meet certain goals, the freelance assistant should be prepared to work for a minimum of 10 hours per week. The assistant will periodically meet virtually to update the Collections Manager as to their progress.

Specifics and scope of the project:
Approximately 4,000 image files are currently missing in the Museum Plus database. With the goal of reducing this number, and eventually replacing all missing images, the assistant will find the missing files, or suitable replacements, from the CPPC online archive, and upload them directly to Museum Plus.

As a means of seeing progress in real time, groups of records will be worked on based on their location. Beginning with the works in our main storage facility, we would then continue by location with works in residences, on loan, and so on.

Candidates:
Ideal candidates for this position are highly self-motivated. They should be detail oriented and organized, with a moderate to advanced level of computer literacy. As much of the collection’s database is in Spanish, some proficiency in Spanish language would be helpful, but is not required. Candidates should have, or be in the process of earning, a Bachelor’s degree in an Art or Art History field of study. All candidates must be eligible to work for pay in the United States.

Pay:

The pay rate for this position is $20.00 USD per hour. Payments will be made within fifteen days from receipt of bi-weekly invoices.
