Digital Projects Intern at the Fraunces Tavern Museum

Fraunces Tavern Museum’s mission is to preserve and interpret the history of the American Revolutionary era through public education. The Museum was founded in 1907 by Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York, Inc. Housed in historic Fraunces Tavern, the permanent collection focuses on 18th and 19th century buildings, period rooms, prints, paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, and manuscripts relating to or reflecting aspects of early American culture and history. Also included in the collection are items associated with the history of the Sons of the Revolution of the State of New York.

The Digital Projects Intern will work under the Communications & Marketing Manager to plan and create digital content for the Fraunces Tavern Museum website and social media channels. This is also a fantastic opportunity to help develop a new, digitally focused marketing strategy in a small non-profit institution.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with routine website updates and maintenance

  • Develop content for the Museum’s website including blog posts, digital tours/exhibitions, and educational videos

  • Plan and create content for the Museum’s social media channels

  • Research and execute collaborative social media campaigns with other institutions

  • Plan and design mass electronic communications

  • Copyedit across multiple platforms and various collateral

  • Perform research relating to marketing and PR opportunities

  • Assist in developing the Museum’s advertising strategies

  • Carry out maintenance and development of email lists and databases

Qualifications:

  • Must be a recent college graduate or currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate studies program in English, Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, History, or a related field.

  • Experience working with Mailchimp, Squarespace, and video editing software.

  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated research experience.

  • Interest in the Revolutionary War and Colonial period, a plus, but not required.
