Education Intern [Unpaid] – The Hispanic Society of America Museum and Library

The Hispanic Society of America Museum and Library seeks a part-time intern and docent with a background and interest in Hispanic art and Education. This internship at the Hispanic Society will provide the opportunity to explore a variety of areas of interests in the arts and museum work. The ideal candidate will have superb communication skills, the ability to work in both independent and in collaborative environments, and exceptional organizational skills.

The intern will assist with various tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Conducting and compiling research on a variety of topics

  • Teaching lessons and presenting to school groups 

  • Preparing materials for family programs, gallery visits, and school workshops

  • Day-to-day administrative/office support

Qualifications:

  • Interest in K-12 teaching or adult education

  • Detail oriented and organized

  • Responsible, dependable and dedicated

  • Fluency in English 

  • Spanish language ability not necessary, but a strong plus

  • Knowledge of Spanish and Hispanic arts and culture a strong plus

This is a part-time internship position open to undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates pursuing a career in the art world. No stipends are available for interns; however, some universities grant class credit for the experience (please inquire at your school for the requirements). Additionally, interns will be compensated for all programs and special events.
