The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust is seeking a skilled and collaborative Museum Educator Manager to oversee the Museum’s Volunteer Educators and Per Diem Educators, ensuring consistent, high-quality educational experiences for all visitors. This individual will serve as the primary manager for all Educators’ staffing, scheduling, training, communication, and performance support. The ideal candidate brings experience in informal education, is familiar with object-based learning practices, and can lead with both empathy and accountability.
Responsibilities
• Serve as the lead manager for the museum’s Volunteer and Per Diem Educators, fostering a respectful, collaborative, and mission-driven work environment.
• Supervise, schedule, and support Educator teams to ensure excellent delivery of tours and educational experiences.
• Cultivate strong working relationships with Educators; providing clear communication, regular feedback, and constructive coaching.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all Educator-related questions, concerns, and day-to-day needs.
• Manage the payment processing and documentation for Per Diem Educators accurately and on time.
• Develop and share resources and help coordinate periodic professional development and learning opportunities throughout the year.
• Support the Director of Educational Programs in the design, implementation, and evaluation of educational tour programs by providing logistical, instructional, or training assistance.
• Assist in the development and distribution of accessible, audience-appropriate educational resources that Educators may use or reference.
• Monitor tour program quality through visitor feedback and observation, addressing issues proactively.
• Ensure that all Educator-related activities adhere to the Museum’s policies, safety procedures, and best practices.
• Provide support for group tours, assist with entry logistics for tour groups, and contribute to departmental administrative tasks and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in education, Museum Education, History, Holocaust History, or Judaic Studies (Master’s degree preferred).
• 3–5 years of experience in informal or museum education, including direct management of educators, volunteers, or teaching staff.
• Strong familiarity with object-based educational practices and their application to diverse learning audiences.
• Excellent teaching and facilitation skills, with adult learning experiences.
• Proficiency in scheduling software/apps, Microsoft 365, and CRM systems.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and maintain a professional work environment.
• Multilingual fluency is a plus.
Position Details
• Reports to the Director of Educational Programs
• Supervises all Volunteer and Per Diem Educators
• Salary compensation range $50,000 -$65,000 with generous benefits
• Full-time, 40 hours a week including some evening and weekend hours, with hybrid schedule available after 90 days
• Must be comfortable standing for long periods and leading tours throughout museum spaces
