Description
The Grey Art Museum, NYU’s fine arts museum, seeks NYU grad student applicants for a museum internship. Grey interns work closely with the museum’s staff to help plan and execute gallery projects, including public programs and exhibitions. They enhance their understanding of issues in modern and contemporary art, help educate the museum’s visitors, and assist in producing and/or circulating Grey materials—which may include installation plans, databases, social media, and digital research projects. This position has a minimum of 10 hours and a maximum of 12 hours per week.
The Grad Student Education and Programs Internship reports to Leah Sweet, Head of Education and Public Programs. An informal performance evaluation will be conducted with your supervisor at the end of each semester but we strongly encourage communication throughout the semester.

Specific tasks may include:
· developing and giving exhibition tours to classes and visiting groups
· publicizing Grey exhibitions and programs to student and other groups
· mentoring the Grey’s undergraduate interns
· managing the Grey’s Student Friends Committee
· planning and executing programs and other outreach with and for NYU students
· assisting with research for the NYU Art Collection, Grey exhibitions, and public programs
· aiding with correspondence, telephone, mailings, photocopying, and occasional gallery desk coverage
· attending meetings
Qualifications:
· academic background in art history
· familiarity with design, database, and imaging programs (desirable but not required)
· strong writing and public speaking skills
· efficient, well-organized, and responsible
· responsive to supervision and also able to work independently
· flexible and willing to participate in all aspects of museum and general office work
· able to work at the Grey at least two times a week , plus some weekday evenings and Saturdays
· available for the full academic year FA 2025–SP 2026

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly base salary range for student employment positions are $16.50-$18 per hour for undergraduate students and $29.00-$30 per hour for graduate students. The hourly rate for graduate employees is based on the collective bargaining agreement with Local 2110.
