Description
The Grey Art Museum, NYU’s fine arts museum, seeks NYU grad student applicants for a museum internship assisting with the Grey’s collection management. This internship will focus on researching the collection, which includes modern and contemporary art in New York City, the Middle East and Asia, and helping to perform condition reports and other duties related to its physical and digital management. This position may also conduct other tasks with the gallery’s staff as needed. This internship has a maximum of 10 hours per week, and will be hired on a per-semester basis.
This internship reports to Michèle Wong, Interim Director and Head of Collections and Exhibitions. An informal performance evaluation will be conducted with your supervisor at the end of each semester, but the Grey strongly encourages communication throughout the semester.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly base salary range for student employment positions are $16.50-$18 per hour for undergraduate students and $29.00-$30 per hour for graduate students. The hourly rate for graduate employees is based on the collective bargaining agreement with Local 2110.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
Specific tasks may include:
· assisting with research for the NYU Art Collection
· collecting data about artworks in the collection
· assisting with the maintenance of collections platforms, both internal and public
· attending meetings
· aiding with correspondence, telephone, mailings, photocopying, and occasional gallery desk coverage
Qualifications:
· academic background in art history
· familiarity with Windows, collections databases, graphic layout, and imaging programs
· good writing skills
· efficient, well-organized, and responsible
· responsive to supervision and also able to work independently
· flexible and willing to participate in all aspects of museum and general office work
· able to work at the Grey at least two times a week
· available for the academic year FA 25 – SP 26
