Description
This summer, the Family Programs intern will conduct research for programs related to summer history holidays (Independence Day) and upcoming exhibitions, and become an integral member of our summer camp team. They will assist with marketing; administrative tasks; preparing materials for programs; and staffing our summer camp, as well as a variety of other family programs for The New York Historical and DiMenna Children’s History Museum. By the end of the internship, the intern will have gained experience with researching, developing, and delivering out-of-school-time programs for a variety of family audiences. We require excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to projects. 

Please note, there will be regularly scheduled weekday hours that may be worked remotely or on-site at the Museum, as well as some in-person weekend and holiday hours to assist with scheduled family programs.

The summer program will run from Monday, June 9 through Friday, August 15. Interns must be available Wednesdays from 4-5 pm (in-person or virtually) and in-person on Fridays 9 am-3 pm. 

The intern in this position will receive an hourly rate of $17.00 for the part-time, 180-hour program.

 

Qualifications
The Family Programs intern should be earning a degree in Education, Museum Education, Museum Studies, History, Art History, or a related field with a particular interest in working with families with children ages 3 – 12. Interest in art-making is a plus.
