About the NYC Arts in Education Roundtable:
The New York City Arts in Education Roundtable is a service organization working to improve and advance arts education in NYC schools, communities, and beyond. Founded in 1992 with the goal of building and professionalizing the arts education field, we are a community of arts education practitioners that shares resources and information, provides professional development, and advocates for the needs of our constituents and the communities they serve. The Roundtable produces a major annual conference (Face to Face); monthly professional development programs; an online resource center; and other activities, in addition to ongoing advocacy and communications efforts to support the sustainability of the sector.
About the Position:
The Development & Membership Manager is a new full-time, non-exempt position (40 hours a week) working remotely with in-person hours required for in-person events (7-12 annually), board meetings (1-2 annually), and all-staff days (scheduled as needed). This role is responsible for coordinating day-to-day fundraising activities and outreach, executing the organization’s storytelling and stewardship efforts across constituencies, and working in partnership with the Executive Director to identify prospective funding sources.
A successful candidate is a detail-oriented, self-starter with a knowledge of fundraising as well as a passion for and in-depth knowledge about arts in education or other related fields. We are looking for a candidate interested in growing with our organization who can help us manage our Membership Program and execute fundraising campaigns in alignment with our mission and values, including executing fundraising events, strengthening communication and relationships with existing supporters, and cultivating potential donors and sponsors. This position also offers the opportunity to expand, create, and implement systems that support our fundraising efforts.
The position is open until filled, but preference will be given to those candidates who apply on or before Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Start date for this position is as soon as possible or ideally by early/mid-March 2025.
Responsibilities of the Development & Membership Manager include:
DEVELOPMENT (80%)
- Work with the Executive Director and Roundtable staff in all aspects of fundraising and institutional advancement, including research on donor prospects and potential funders, annual appeal, implementing stewardship of donors at all levels, and assisting with communications and outreach.
- Oversees day-to-day administration of Neon CRM management and donation tracking
- Participate in the facilitation of gift processing, updating database records, generating acknowledgement letters, and other communication with donors.
- Assist with the planning, implementation, and promotion of special events, fundraisers, and public programs that help to broaden awareness of the Roundtable.
- Work with ED and board leadership on building and curating annual fundraising events.
- Creates copy and manages calendar for communications and marketing related to fundraising, in partnership with Operations Manager.
- Supervises event coordinator for annual fundraising event(s).
- Serves as staff committee point person for Development Committee of the Roundtable’s Board of Directors.
MEMBERSHIP (15%)
- Manage all Roundtable Membership inquiries and benefits
- Coordinates solicitation and outreach for new members
- Oversees daily maintenance of membership and donation database (NeonCRM)
- Creates strategy for activating and engaging new/existing members
ADMIN (5%)
- Work with Roundtable staff on all-staff events and advocacy efforts.
- Performing other duties as reasonably instructed by the Executive Director.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 3-5 years of experiencing in fundraising, including grant-writing and managing donor relationships
- Excellent attention-to-detail, writing, verbal communication, copy editing, and all organizational skills
- Strong problem-solving skills, along with an ability to comprehend and analyze data
- Passion for and knowledge of NYC’s arts education and arts & culture ecosystems
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated team player who works well with diverse groups of people
- Proven ability to work independently given the hybrid work environment and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice
- Experience with Google’s G-Suite
- Familiarity with donor databases (Neon CRM preferred)
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to lift and carry light boxes or files, typically up to 15 pounds
