Job Description:
Reporting to the Curator in the School of Art and Design, the Exhibition Production Coordinator prepares, handles, and moves artwork for exhibition, packing, and storage and installs exhibitions in the Art and Design Gallery and sometimes in additional campus spaces, as required. Works as part of a team.
Supervises the Graduating Student Exhibition, creates and generates production timelines, and coordinates all technology needs and requests for all departments for the exhibition.
Coordinates with the Curator, the Dean of the School of Art and Design, and the Exhibition Committee to facilitate the exhibition calendar. Works closely with visiting artists, professors, students, fabricators, temporary installers, interns, and work-study students, as well as relevant staff, to organize and manage the production of all exhibitions, including related budgets and expenditures.
Assists the manager with sourcing and purchasing materials and prepares annual presentations to incoming students and other College stakeholders, including College Communications, External Relations, and the Office of the President.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, organize, and manage all significant components of the Art and Design Gallery exhibitions, under the supervision of the Curator.
- Monitor all aspects of exhibition installations, staffing, budget, and materials.
- Generates and supervises exhibition-specific deadlines for the installation and curation of exhibitions. Collaborates with faculty, staff, students, and alumni to maintain the Gallerys mission of being an extension of the classroom.
- Supervises and regularly updates the FIT website. Coordinate the efforts of relevant FIT departments during exhibition installations. Attend relevant FIT meetings as well as conferences as needed.
- Act as point person for gallery lighting issues.
- Pack and unpack works of art for loans, exhibitions, campus installations, and transit.
- Collaborate on handling oversize and complex artworks, including mounting systems, rigging, movement, and storage methods.
- Research and recommend installation equipment.
- Research and order supplies and equipment.
- Participate in the development of exhibition planning.
- Attend faculty and student installation-related meetings.
- Attend exhibition departmental production meetings.
- Participate in creating exhibition budgets and sourcing materials for the Art and Design Gallery.
- Perform related duties, as may be required.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Studio Art, or Museum Studies required.
- 3-5 years of appropriate business experience.
- Knowledge of exhibition production, design, installation standards, and art handling experience, including moving oversized art objects; gallery lighting experience required.
- Experience working with college staff, curators, and faculty from diverse industries, exhibition producers, and students.
- Experience overseeing the coordination of multiple activities and complex tasks for single and inter-related projects.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to monitor and assess performance, identify areas for improvement for corrective action.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) and Google applications, including Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Calendar.

Salary
Salary: $72,324.38 per year
The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) dictates the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment. Hiring Salary: $72,324.38 per year with step increments per Salary Schedule 93, after one year of service and annually thereafter.
Work Schedule
Days/Hours: M-F, 9am-5pm, in person; work schedule subject to change based on needs of the department.

The working conditions for this position will be any combination of the classroom, lab, and/or office space. Certain roles may be required to handle machinery and chemicals.
