Description
The New-York Historical Society seeks a qualified intern to assist with research and planning relating to an upcoming exhibition about music in New York City in the 1970s. Applicants should have a background in the history of hip hop. The internship will largely involve research with primary and secondary sources, and preparation of research reports on specific topics. The intern in this position will: gain experience in the research phase of exhibition planning, gain proficiency with a variety of document types and sources, and learn to navigate TMS (The Museum System collections database). The intern will work closely with curator Allison Robinson, Ph.D., Associate Curator of Exhibitions.
The Spring 2025 Internship will run from February 10-April 18, 2025. This part-time 120-hour internship is paid at an hourly rate of $16.
Please be advised that the New-York Historical Society has adopted a mandatory vaccine policy. Interns must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination (inclusive of booster shots) ahead of the start of the internship and will be required to follow health and safety measures put into place by New-York Historical while on-site.
Qualifications
This internship requires research and writing experience.
