Description

The Everson Museum of Art seeks a highly motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented Manager of Community Engagement to join the Museum’s Learning & Engagement team. The manager reports to the Director & CEO and the Deputy Director and works alongside a Manager of K-12 & Family Programming. This position offers an opportunity to work in a unique setting, be a creative thinker, and work with a staff of dedicated employees.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

-Maintains existing and develops new neighborhood-based outreach programs.

-Builds and stewards meaningful relationships with new audiences and partners that may be reached through exhibition-related or community collaborations.

-Develops and implements onsite, outreach, and virtual programs relating to special exhibitions and collections for a diverse range of adults.

-Ensures public programs are developed cross-departmentally, connect with strategic priorities, and strengthen relationships with new and current Museum audiences.

-Liaises with area college/university faculty and staff on curriculum-related opportunities and special programs.

-Works with exhibiting and visiting artists to develop and execute public programs, classes, and workshops.

-Maintains an ongoing adult education program with a focus on developing additional revenue streams for the Museum.

-Works closely with the Marketing team to expand visibility of programs and outreach.

-Assists in the creation of interpretive materials in conjunction with exhibitions, including educator resource materials, iPad presentations, family guides, gallery guides, and audio tours; collaborates with curatorial department to ensure that content and interpretive techniques best meet audiences’ needs.

-Manages hiring logistics and conducts background checks for interns and fellows in coordination with Human Resources.

-In collaboration with the K-12 and Family Programming Manager, plans K-12 camps, educational classes and workshops, special community days, and public programs related to special exhibitions and collections.

-In collaboration with the K-12 and Family Programming Manager, plans robust and diverse programming for the Everson’s annual Festival of Trees & Light.

-Incorporates inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility principles into day-to-day responsibilities.

-Serves as a staff liaison to the Education, Equity & Engagement Committee.

-Other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

-Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent training and experience in art education, museum studies, public programming, social practice, or relate field required.

-Demonstrated experience with public programs, both in development and execution.

-Knowledge of museums and/or other non-profit organizations, structures and processes.

-Knowledge of databases and/or registrations systems, or willingness and ability to learn. Specific knowledge of Altru or Raisers\’s Edge products a plus!

-Ability to work a schedule that supports the Learning & Engagement Department, including some flexible and variable hours, such as weekends and evenings.

-Strong team player and interpersonal skills.

-Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced environment.

-Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within and beyond the institution.

-Excellent organizational skills, follow-through, and attention to detail, including ability to work on multiple programs and deadlines simultaneously.

-Strong oral and written communication skills.
