The Position:

The Jewish Museum is hosting paid part-time internships during the academic year for undergraduate and graduate students in the NYC area. Interns will work a hybrid schedule, both remote and onsite at the Museum, for the equivalent of two days per week from November 2024 thru May 2025, including a winter break and flexible scheduling around other holidays. The available department positions are listed below. In addition to the department-specific work, there will be scheduled programs in which interns will connect as a group and learn about work happening at the Museum in discussion with staff from various departments.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Completion of department work
  • Regular communication and meetings with department supervisor
  • Attend regularly scheduled programs for interns

Requirements:

  • Current university student (BA or MA level)
  • Resident of the NYC metropolitan area
  • Availability to work onsite at least one day per week
  • Interest in museum work, art, and Jewish culture
  • Must have internet access and computer with camera

Departments:

Access: As a member of the Education team, work on accessibility initiatives across the institution, and assist with programs for visitors who are blind or have low vision, who are Deaf, who have memory loss, or who have learning or developmental disabilities.

Curatorial: Research specific topics in art; organize visual material; create and maintain checklists and exhibition documents/presentations; assist with generation and editing of exhibition texts.

Design: Help design print and digital assets and prepare design files for production as part of the Creative Services Department. (Design candidates must submit include a portfolio with their application.)

Digital Content and Communications: Working alongside a dynamic and cross-functional team whose scope encompasses marketing, social media, and press, the intern will create outreach strategies to support awareness among target audiences for the Jewish Museum’s exhibitions and public programs
