Job Title: Curatorial & Collections Assistant

Job Status: Full-time

Location: Syracuse, NY

Salary: $20/hr


Position overview:

The Everson Museum of Art seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented r Curatorial & Collections Assistant to join its dynamic and growing team. This is a role provides support for both the curatorial and collections departments.

 

Collections Duties:

· Manage all aspects of Community Exhibitions

· Manage rights & reproductions requests

· Work with donors on Deed of Gift paperwork

· Catalog new acquisitions for the collection

· Assist with managing data entry into FileMaker database

· Assist with collection inventories

· Assist with exhibition installations

 

Curatorial Duties:

· Assist the curatorial department in coordinating details for exhibitions, including exhibition checklists, research, and writing exhibition text

· Compile and distribute materials for Collections Committee meetings

· Field research requests and gift offer inquiries

· Assist with deaccession research and documentation

· Coordinate curatorial and visiting artist travel when necessary

 

Qualifications:

· Excellent writing and communication skills

· Demonstrated attention to detail, as well as organizational, analytical, and time management skills

· Experience with collections management data entry

· Experience with art handling and collections care

· Must be committed to best practices in collections stewardship

· Must be able to work independently and with a variety of staff

· Must be able to climb ladders, to bend, stoop, and to lift up to 50 pounds

· Experience with archives management is a plus

 

Positions requirements:

· BA in art history or arts related field (MA preferred)

· 1-2 years of experience working a museum / collections setting
