Summer 2024 Paid Internship Opportunities at the South Street Seaport Museum

Job Title: Intern

Location: New York, NY

Note: These internships were shared with Rosanna along with the following email:

Dear Rosanna,

I have two in-person paid internship positions at the South Street Seaport Museum this upcoming Summer 2024.

As you know from our meetings, conversations, and past interns, I am really passionate and caring about training new generations of collections specialists, archivists, and registrars.

These internships allow students to become part of a small, dynamic team, participating in day-to-day workplace activities and projects with the guidance of full-time staff members of the Collections and Exhibitions Department. In addition to gaining extensive work experience in collection management and registration, curatorial research, digitization, and archive management, interns will be offered opportunities for professional development activities and will be provided resources that focus on maritime heritage, New York City history, and the role of museums in society today. Our goal is to provide interns with the most current methods and tools that are relevant to the field, assign projects that are tailored to support their personal and professional growth, and provide space for critical dialogue.
I am hiring for a “Archive and Library Intern” and a “Collections and Exhibitions Management Intern”.
2024 Internships require a commitment of at least two days per week, 10am–5pm.
Interns are paid $18/hour on a bi-weekly basis and receive free admission to most NYC museums and employee discounts at the Seaport Museum’s Bowne & Co. Stationers.
If you know someone interested, please directed them to our website: seaportmuseum.org/jobs-and-internships

The building with the exhibition is not open yet.. But it will be this Fall! Let’s plan for working a bit more together then.

All my best, and thank you,
Martina
