Description
The USS Constitution Museum seeks an experienced and innovative leader to manage the Museum’s education initiatives as Education Manager.
Major duties include: managing the Museum’s education programs including development, administration, budgeting, evaluation, and reporting for K-12, after school, summer camp, scout, and youth audiences; coordinate the Museum’s civics education initiative which seeks to engage students in conversation about civics and service, leading program facilitation; training team of Museum Teachers to deliver programs with an understanding of best museum education practice; fostering partnerships with key audiences such as Boston Public School teachers and administrators; coordinating and facilitating History and Interpretation training for USS Constitution’s active-duty crew in collaboration with the Museum’s curatorial department; contributing to active and collaborative relationships with partner organizations; and supporting the Museum’s public programming efforts.
Requirements
The successful candidate is an innovative thinker and dynamic leader with a minimum of five years’ experience working in a museum or similar setting, as well as demonstrable excellence in teaching K–12 school and teacher audiences. The manager will have experience developing engaging and innovative school and teacher programs, setting strategic goals for academic programs, prioritizing tasks to support these goals, and facilitating and evaluating such programs. The successful candidate is a self-motivated individual who excels in a fast-paced creative environment and thinks both strategically and logistically. He/she will possess excellent organizational and communication skills, and provide evidence of well-developed collaborative skills and demonstrated experience in staff management, including supervisory experience and leading teams through multi-faceted projects.
This is a full-time position with a salary range of $55,000 – $60,000 annually based on experience, plus benefits. Occasional weekend and evening hours are required. This position requires in-person work at the Museum, with occasional remote work possible with supervisor approval.
