JOB SUMMARY:
The Office of Alumni Affairs and Development is seeking a collaborative and goal-oriented team player at The Cooper Union, a leading college in arts, architecture, and engineering undergraduate education. While The Cooper Union is small, it has played an important role through its graduates’ impact on New York City and the world as well as through its well-respected community outreach programs and its illustrious Great Hall. It is an exciting time to be at Cooper as it continues to move the needle on returning to full-tuition scholarships for all undergraduate students. The Office of Alumni Affairs and Development plays a key role in this effort and is looking for a strong, detail-oriented candidate to join its dynamic team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist the Individual Giving team with administrative support of the Major Gift donor group, which includes all donors $10k+.
• Manage major donor constituent information, which includes donor related research, prospecting, and contact reports in the CRM.
• Manage the development of materials for internal and external meetings. Draft briefing materials for meetings and events with high-level prospects, assuring that all data is accurate and up to date. Draft follow-up correspondence.
• In coordination with the Director of Individual Giving and the Vice President, develop major gift proposals and gift agreements.
• Spearhead planned giving relationships and outreach with current and prospective donors. Communicate with external partners on planned giving matters regarding existing gifts and new planned giving intentions.
• Increase engagement with current and prospective donors, the entire alumni community, and Board of Trustees in conjunction with the Director of
Individual Giving and other senior leadership.
• Support the work of the Individual Giving team on high level donor events.
• Other related duties as required or assigned by the Director of Individual Giving or Vice President of Alumni Affairs and Development.
SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:
• Strong knowledge of development concepts, fundraising techniques, especially those related to annual giving success
• Superior interpersonal and communications skills, including a proven ability to interact with high level donors, board members, other colleagues, and department personnel.
• Excellent writing skills
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and exposure to database software a plus)
• Good computer and proofreading skills
• Good with numbers and detail-oriented
• Sound judgment and discretion
• Strong team player
• Reliable and punctual
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
EDUCATION:
A Bachelor’s Degree with experience in Development
Annual pay: $60,000
