Description:

Film Forum, an acclaimed nonprofit cinema located in lower Manhattan, seeks an organized, self-motivated, team player to be the Development Assistant in a busy fundraising office. This part-time position reports the Director of Development, and will play a pivotal role in keeping the organization’s development efforts organized and on-schedule. Successful candidates will have a keen attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and an interest in Film Forum’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the department, including event support, data entry, and back-up phone support to receptionists.
  • Maintain, organize, and manage hygiene and consistency of all department files (hard-copy and digital).
  • Maintain and manage development calendar of deadlines and activities, and provide regular updates to the full development team.
  • Assist with regular mailings to members and donors, including fundraising appeals and event invitations.
  • Process all donations in Tessitura, the donor database, and generate acknowledgement letters.
  • Conduct prospect research of institutional and individual donors and produce profiles for the development team & Director.
  • Prepare supplemental materials and attachments for grant submissions and reports and work with Director of Development to submit proposals and reports
  • Proofread development materials & correspondence.
  • Supervise an intern for administrative duties.
  • Maintain government grant portals and department passwords.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 2 years working in an office in an administrative capacity
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills with ability to think systematically
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects in a fast-moving environment while staying ahead of all deadlines
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Strong computer skills – Word, Excel and database experience required; knowledge of Tessitura preferred.
  • Project management skills and proactive follow-through
  • Passion for movies or arts and culture a plus.

Salary & Benefits

  • $25 per hour
  • This is a part-time, permanent position: 24 hours a week on a reliable, regular schedule. Schedule will need to fall during regular office hours Monday – Friday between 9:30am – 5:30pm.
  • This position is represented by the UAW Local 2110 Union.
