The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History invites applications for a Visual Information Specialist.  This position provides in-house design services for exhibitions, programs, public spaces, and graphics, as well as manages the design process for major exhibitions, programming spaces and public space renovations.  Works with project teams through the design and fabrication process to transform intellectual content into three-dimensional built environments, graphics, virtual environments, and multi-media delivery systems within the built environment.

Competitive candidates will have knowledge of exhibition design concepts, tools, and processes as well as design best practices including architectural design, space planning, accessible design, and universal design principles.

GS-11 salary – $78,592 – $102,166 per year, plus benefits.

GS-12 salary – $94,199 – $122,459 per year, plus benefits.

GS-13 salary – $112,015 – $145,617 per year, plus benefits.

Is there a way to add Exhibition Designer to this?  I know VIS is the official title but outside of the Government, most people don’t know what a VIS is.
