About

Reporting to the Director of Teen Programs, the Teen Arts Council and Curatorial Study Hall Coordinator will coordinate the planning, execution, and implementation of the programs for Boston high school students. The Coordinator will work closely with the students, MFA staff members, and external professionals in the cultural, academic, and business community.A major component of the role is mange and implement year-round programming. In addition, the Coordinator will assist with collaborations and partnerships as well as recruitment. The Coordinator will also serve as the bridge between the MFA’s Teen Programs and Curatorial Department by working closely with the Curatorial mentor to assist in implementing teen exhibition proposals.

Essential Functions

Teen Arts Council

Program Design and Implementation

  • Work with the Director of Teen Programs and STEAM Team and High School Partnership Coordinator to organize and promote MFA Teen wide curriculum, TAC programming, events, activities, and workshops for Boston area teens.
  • Plan programming, events, and opportunity for teens to learn more about art history, museum careers, and enhance teen engagement at the MFA.
  • Coordinate development of learning rubric and work with evaluators to assess programs objectives.
  • Coordinate and engage MFA staff to participate in programming, confirming schedules.
  • Serve as liaison between TAC members, Director of Teen Programs, and staff members.
  • Prepare and help develop program materials in a variety of formats (written and electronic) for the purpose of distribution and documentation.
  • Assist with promotion, recruitment, and employment

Partnership / Relationship Management

  • Establish formal relationships with professionals and leaders working in youth professional development and art disciplines in Greater Boston. Liaise regularly with partner organizations, share program information, and expand opportunities for MFA TAC participants.
  • Deepen and expand relationships with Boston youth organizations to increase teen engagement and visibility at the MFA.
  • Provide enhancements to curriculum including job shadows, field trips, guest speakers, internship placements and mentoring opportunities.
  • Facilitate positive communication and build relationships between participants, MFA staff and parents / families of program participants.
  • Perform other related duties as required or directed.

Curatorial Study Hall

  • Assist with program design and implementation of Curatorial Study Hall.
  • Serve as liaison between CSH participants, Curatorial mentors, Director of Teen Programs, and staff members.
  • Assist building and maintaining relationships with CSH partners.
  • Collaborate with the curatorial department and curatorial mentor on Teen Docent summer program design and implementation.
  • Supervise teens during Teen Docent summer program, including training and coaching.
  • Maintain CSH program calendar and schedule.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate Museum departments as needed.
  • Provide administrative and event support related to CSH public programs as needed.

General tasks

  • Perform other related duties as required or directed.
  • Serves on Department and Museum-wide teams as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 1 to 3 years of demonstrated experience in program management.
  • Prior experience working with high school students.
  • Ability to work with a significant diversity of individuals and groups.
  • Exceptional organization skills and an ability to handle multiple tasks fluidly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent understanding of computers and database management
  • Leadership skills, as well as a collaborative workstyle. Effective with both internal and external constituencies
  • Poise, maturity, flexibility, initiative, and ability to work as a team player essential.
  • High degree of social sensibility and diplomacy.
  • Highly creative; ability to generate new ideas.

SALARY AND SCHEDULE

Full-Time Salary, 35 hours per week$48,600 – $52,000, commensurate with experienceThis position’s affiliated with the United Auto Workers union
