REPORTS TO: Exhibition Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW: Primarily participates in all aspects of installing and removing
exhibitions
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Support exhibition manager to plan, organize, execute installation and removal of
exhibitions
Provide technical support, for exhibiting students, artists and curators
Maintain a cooperative working relationship with department chairs, students and
curators
Supervise freelance art handlers and student assistants working on exhibitions, ensuring their safety
Maintain orderly storage facilities, with adequate inventory of supplies and equipment
Construct walls and other structures as needed for exhibitions
Produce CAD-generated drawings and renderings of exhibition designs
Help coordinate production of signage and wall text for exhibitions
Staff opening receptions and other after hours events at galleries
Install and staff off-site exhibitions as needed
Maintain professional appearance of galleries and exhibition within them
Sustain an eagerness to learn about latest exhibition standards, tools, and equipment
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum two years experience installing exhibitions (carpentry, construction, lighting and art handling)
Bachelor’s degree in related field; working knowledge of contemporary arts preferred
Proficiency in SketchUp, Photoshop, Google Suite and MS Office programs
Working knowledge of production and presentation of AV and digital media artworks
Familiarity with exhibition design and gallery administration
Understanding of safe, basic rigging techniques.
Ability to perform repetitive physical activities such as bending, twisting, reaching,
climbing, balancing, and handling of materials. This is an essential function of the job
Ability to comfortably lift up to 50 lbs. This is an essential function of the job
Strong sense of responsibility, organizational skills, and thorough attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, always maintaining professional
demeanor and appearance
Available to work occasional evenings and Saturdays
