ISAW Academic Affairs & Development Assistant
The position will support the Associate Director for Academic Affairs and the Development and Public Engagement Manager at the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World, a freestanding research institute and doctoral program that is affiliated with the NYU Graduate School of Arts and Science, with the following tasks:
- Administrative work connected with academic affairs, development, and events.
- Processing video recordings of events.
- Reviewing and editing closed captioning for event videos.
- Responding to email and phone inquiries about ISAW events, exhibitions, and other programs.
- Creating drafts of event listings, registration pages, and e-blasts.
- Updating event materials and invitations.
- On-site support for in-person events, including checking in guests, monitoring AV, and helping with set-up/breakdown for receptions.
- Support for Zoom events.
Familiarity with at least some of the following platforms (or ability to learn quickly) is recommended: Constant Contact, Eventbrite, Donor Perfect, Adobe Creative Suite, NYU Stream, video editing tools, social media (Instagram/Twitter/Facebook), Rev.
Familiarity with or interest in ancient history and/or archaeology would be helpful.
Approximately 10 hours per week, including a mix of remote work (from within the United States) and in-person work at ISAW (15 East 84th Street). Availability on Wednesday evenings from 4pm to 8pm for in-person work is desirable. We plan to hire an NYU graduate student in a master’s or PhD program. Ideally, the position will start on 9/5/23 and end on 12/22/23.
Evaluation: The student worker will meet with the supervisor on a monthly basis to discuss performance.
