Summary:
The Research and Evaluation Coordinator is a full-time exempt position. The Research and Evaluation (R&E) department conducts social science research and evaluation to provide valuable audience insights to assist in departmental and institutional planning. The department is responsible for leading the development, implementation, reporting and management of institutional research and evaluation strategies and tools.
The Research & Evaluation Coordinator will work with the Director of Research & Evaluation to plan and oversee institutional research and evaluation efforts. This individual will assist with project management and design, execute, and facilitate systematic evaluation and research studies for programs, exhibits and other institutional initiatives. Responsibilities will include developing project timelines and instruments, pilot testing, analysis and report writing.

- Demonstrate commitment to Shedd’s vision, mission and values.
- Work in partnership with Learning & Community departments to develop and execute evaluation plans for program experiences
- Work in partnership with Shedd stakeholders to successfully complete assigned research and evaluation projects.
- Project manage 4-6 research and evaluation studies (of varying scope) at one time.
- Develop research and evaluation plans, timelines, and instruments. Test and pilot instruments as needed.
- Support the coordination of departmental projects and activities.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data and write reports.
- Disseminate study findings to key Shedd stakeholders, sharing insights with institutional leadership to inform planning and drive success
- Share relevant findings more broadly through conference presentations and publications
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:

Education:
- Master’s Degree in museum studies, science education, learning sciences, educational psychology, or related field.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of relevant experience
- Experience with both qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative analysis including familiarity with SPSS.
- Project management experience, preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy required.
- Ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively with other Shedd staff and program participants.
- Competency with Microsoft Office programs
- Interest in and enthusiasm for research and informal science education
