Summary

The Exhibits & Programs Department celebrates the creative, innovative, and industrial legacy of the Yard through a series of public programs, tours, exhibitions, public art projects, and special events that emphasize the continued economic and cultural impact of the Yard.

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Programs & Tours, who will oversee the organization’s programming calendar for visitors of all ages and its touring program. They are responsible for creating strategies with the department head to implement programmatic goals. The position will manageone full-time program assistant and coordinate with program partners throughout the year

.Areas of Responsibility

Public Programs & Tours 55%

Conceive, develop, and maintain a robust set of public programs and tours for general audiences, including developing a refined strategy for programming tied to workforce development and master plan developments

Enhance open houses and low barrier access programs for the public and the Yard’s neighbors

Lead tours for corporate groups;

Prepare materials for groups including PowerPoints and impact reports

Work with curatorial team on developing programs for rotating exhibitions and public art projects

Liaise with Turnstile Tours, the Yard’s official tour provider. This includes confirming tour schedule, tracking data, and developing new themes and ways to engage the public

Oversee production of outreach, promotional, and marketing materials in coordination with EA team and graphic designer

School, Youth & Family Programs 35%

Maintain educational offerings for K 12 students with an emphasis on STEAM themes and the legacy of the Yard past and present

Generate curricula & develop strategy for engagement for K 12 audiences

Curate and support family-friendly programming for signature programs with

Engage and manage community partners and consultants as needed, which includes check-in, contracts, and data collection

Oversight/Administrative 10%

Manage Program Assistant, Coordinator, and external partners

Ensure programs have proper marketing and communication materials in place

Track data and visitor satisfaction through surveys, focus groups, and observation

Maintain up-to-date records and process documents with the Archives team

Oversee program budgets and expenses

Required Skills And Abilities

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Demonstrated competence working across all phases of program development, from idea inception to implementation

Experience managing budgets and creating program plans and timelines

Skilled in organization and attention to detail

Ability to multitask and create effective systems for follow up

Ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment, working through ambiguity independently

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in art education, museum education, arts administration, art history, design, or related fields required

5-7+ years of experience in education, youth programs, public programs, and tours

2+ years of experience writing curricula and/or teaching in a cultural setting

2+ years of supervisory experience

2+ years of experience managing budgets and/or handling invoices, payments, and relationships with vendors

Experience working with audiences of varying ages, backgrounds, interests, and abilities

High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; Photoshop, Illustrator an added benefit) and other administrative tools

Must be able to work some nights and weekends
