Background
The Saturday Program was created and designed to support the development of important art, college readiness and engagement skills, and broaden participation and degree completion in the ARTS. Its curricula and pedagogies support college readiness; pathway progression and college completion; and development of the social capital that shapes engagement, belonging and identity.
Description
Reporting to the Dean, School of Art, the Director of the Saturday Program will be responsible to lead the Saturday Program working with Saturday Program staff, faculty, student workers and with key institutional stakeholders to develop educational goals and strategies that support student development and college / art and architecture program readiness and lead the Saturday Program.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Curriculum development and Instructional practice
- Develop curriculum and in particular, portfolio review course objectives and desired outcomes.
- Facilitate mentor reflections, observations and formative assessments in weekly debrief/prep meetings.
- Facilitate development of training curriculum for mentors that will build understanding of critique as a crucial pedagogy, inclusive practices in critique, the impact of community building on learning and student outcomes, and the development of observation skills and practices associated with facilitation that support these pedagogies.
- Develop curricular components and learning goals and outcomes in art program that includes a range of visual arts courses and experiences
- Codify learning goals including specific art skills, college readiness skills and practices, and development objectives.
- Develop assessment intakes to substantiate achievement of goals and metrics.
- Develop assessment intakes to substantiate achievement of goals and metrics.
- Manage the K-12 partnerships, and identification and scheduling of role models and mentors;
- Create and maintain community partnerships in at key CBO and schools that bring value and support capacity building;
- Codify the application and selection practices to support impact assessment,
- Collect and review data that supports program operations and assessment of impact,
- Program operations and logistics including room, materials, hiring, scheduling.
- Develop Summer Program
Leadership responsibilities
- Incumbent will provide key support in assessment and outcomes evaluation, and coordinate with the evaluators to support developmental evaluation, managing logistics, engaging and supporting data needs.
- Incumbent will develop outcomes reports, support annual reporting
- Incumbent will perform any other duties as required.
- Implement the art/architecture exhibition show
- Work with faculty liaisons from Art and Architecture on a regular basis
SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Background /focus in Art and / or Architecture education or evidence of background to support ART precollege program education
- Program development, management or implementation experience, particularly K-12 or college co-curricular initiatives with specific experience in Art readiness programming a plus
- Excellent collaboration, coordination and project management skills
- Experience working in facilitative, collaborative learning pedagogies
- Strong Community partnership experience and partners
- Ability to facilitate instructional teams, reflection and debrief
- Understanding of instructional approaches that foster learning and impacts including assessment and program evaluation experience
- Familiarity with data management and reporting, and research regarding art education
- Excellent writing and communication skills
EDUCATION :
Masters Degree in Art/Architecture/Art Education Highly Preferred
Salary range: $70,000 – $90,000
