Status: Full-time Exempt
Compensation: $40,000-$55,000 annually based upon 37.5-hour work week.
Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, 37.5 hours per week. Scheduling flexibility is possible with Manager approval.

The Taft Museum of Art (TMA), located in downtown Cincinnati, is seeking a full-time Grants & Stewardship Manager, reporting directly to the Director of Development. This position requires a positive, highly organized team player who communicates proactively, is attentive to detail, manages multiple priorities, and has excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills. The Grants and Stewardship Manager will maintain active institutional relationships and manage a grant portfolio that requires the submission of approximately 60-70 proposals a year, along with requisite evaluation reports. In addition to managing all grants and evaluation reports, this position will be an integral member of the development team and assist the department when needed with events and other activities. POSITION SUMMARY 

Reportingto theDirector of Development, the Grants & Stewardship Manager is responsibleforwriting grants and evaluation reports tofoundations, corporations, and government entities. Theposition is crucial to delivering on the museum’s mission to provide meaningful experiences by connecting people to great art in a historic setting and in the community by focusing on growing TMA’scontributed revenue through grants.

The Grants and Stewardship Manager works with the development team on goalsbyrenewing currentfoundationsupport,writing proposals for new grant opportunities, andstewardingall current funders through evaluation reports that articulate the outcomes achieved.They own the tracking of all reports in excel and within our Altru donor database and are responsible for prospecting for new funders.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Brings to life the history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs of the Taft Museum of Art into written proposals for funding.
  • Researches grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Drafts grant proposals and supporting documents based on funding requirements of the organization.
  • Submits proposals to the Director of Development for approval.
  • Responds to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
  • Maintains positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
  • Maintains records and submits reports related to grant opportunities.
  • Drafts evaluation reports to steward existing funders, including detailed reports for our recently completed capital project.
  • Develops relationships and collaborates with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Development to send funders updates, thank you letters, and to promote on-site visits.
  • Maintains proficient knowledge of TMA exhibitions and programs.
  • Ensures quality and accuracy of information.
  • Assists with coordination of events and donor development efforts when requested.
  • Performs other reasonable duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, preferably in areas such as arts administration, communications, journalism, creative writing, marketing, or another related field.
  • Minimum 2 years or more experience writing and managing grants.
  • Experience working in a museum preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform job duties with minimal guidance or instruction.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Reliable transportation.
