The ICAA:

 

The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) is a nonprofit membership organization with 15 chapters across the country committed to promoting and preserving the practice, understanding, and appreciation of classical design. To do so, the ICAA offers a broad range of educational programs. These include intensives for architecture and design students, introductory programs for middle school students, lectures and walking tours for the public, continuing education courses for professionals and enthusiasts, travel programs to visit classical masterpieces, the publishing of original and reprinted books, and an annual journal entitled the Classicist. Through the annual Arthur Ross Awards, as well as other national and regional award programs, the ICAA also honors contemporary leaders of classical design and the related fields. 

 

The Position:

Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Development Assistant works as an integral part of the fundraising team responsible for securing investments from individuals, foundations, and corporations. The Development Assistant works closely with the President and other members of the Development team to provide administrative assistance and support on all aspects of the fundraising program.

 

Full time, 40 hours per week from Monday – Friday, some evening and weekend work required. Hybrid schedule available with three days in-office and two virtual.

 

Position Responsibilities:

The Development Assistant will have the following job responsibilities:

  • Maintaining Donor Database – 50%
  • Assist in entering and processing pledges and donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations in Raiser’s edge and draft acknowledgment letters as needed
  • Ensure that gifts are accurately coded and submitted to finance office
  • Adding new constituent records, notes, and actions
  • Assign and edit memberships as needed
  • Address updates (moves, capturing seasonal addresses)
  • Maintaining up-to-date training on Raiser’s Edge functionality
  • Create queries and pull reports as needed from Raiser’s Edge, including mailing lists for events, appeals, and other outreach
  • Create weekly reports of outstanding pledges and acknowledgment letters and distribute to the development team

 

  • Donor Services – 25%
  • Gift Acknowledgments – provide donors with receipts for credit card transactions and formal tax acknowledgment letters
  • Assist with donor inquiries, proposals, and reports for corporations and foundations, as needed
  • Research prospects and current funders

 

  • Development Administration – 25%
  • Assist with mailings and appeals
  • Assist with creation of meeting briefings for donor meetings
  • Assist with events set-up and staffing
  • Draft and create e-blasts for travel, events, and other donor communications
  • Update ICAA website periodically, as needed
  • Enter and edit emails and contact information in Constant Contact
  • Enter and edit professional directory entries on the Classicist website
  • Process mail daily and distribute within the office; send office mail and packages; schedule messenger services as needed
  • Coordinate fulfillment of office supplies and manage vendors
  • Other projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of fundraising or related non-profit experience, internships accepted
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized, with excellent oral and written communications skills
  • A high level of energy, initiative, and creativity is essential
  • Ability to interact professionally with trustees, members, donors, volunteers, and 
colleagues
  • Proficient in database management and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar database a plus.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Must show exceptional attention to detail while managing multiple projects on tight deadlines
  • Interest in architecture, art, or design is a plus
