BACKGROUND
The Collection Information & Digital Assets department (CIDA) are stewards of the art administration systems (collection management system, digital asset management system, work order management system) and their data, providing strategic digital solutions and support throughout data lifecycles for a variety of internal and external users needs. CIDA governs metadata standards, systems development, assessment, and preservation of high-value digital assets, and consults on greater museum-wide digital initiatives. The team works closely with departments such as Registration, Collections Management, Art Preparation & Installation, Conservation, Curatorial, Rights & Reproductions, Information Systems, and Web & Digital Media to support the acquisition program, exhibition calendar, and other institutional projects and priorities.
INTERNSHIP SUMMARY
The CIDA internship position will provide students the opportunity to learn with and shadow CIDA staff, while exploring projects in possible areas of interests such as digital asset management, database administration, time-based media (TBM) and audiovisual archiving. Examples of previous projects include: collection/data processing, data scrubbing, software testing, documentation writing, digital preservation planning, and TBM collection conditioning. The intern will have the opportunity to collaborate with CIDA and other museum staff during the course of their internship on co-occurring projects and initiatives. Depending on their focus, the intern will also be connected with additional staff as appropriate and will have access to the team’s broader network. They will attend CIDA’s weekly departmental meetings with the hope of their active participation and insight in discussions on data and digital strategies and have regular check-ins with their supervisor.
- This is a paid part-time internship (16 hours per week or less).
- Anticipated Internship period: October 2, 2023 – December 22, 2023
QUALIFICATION
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an accredited graduate, undergraduate, or community college program
