Salary: $75,000 – $90,000
Description
Responsibilities include Strategic Planning, Financial Oversight, Fundraising, Staff Management. Qualifications include knowledge of museum operations, interest in American History and strong external communication skills.
Requirements
- Work with the Board to achieve goals defined in the existing Strategic Plan; work with Board to update the Strategic Plan to identify new goals and programming objectives.
- Responsible for ongoing financial management; work with Board treasurer, Board Finance Committee and outside accountants to conduct financial reviews and prepare financial reports; work with Board to develop annual budget.
- Work with Board to set goals for major fundraising efforts; track fundraising progress and report progress to Board; prepare for and oversee an upcoming Capital Campaign to restore the Knapp House; identify and develop grant opportunities.
- Maintain member records; communicate with membership about the Society’s work; work to increase membership and participation.
- Oversee paid and volunteer staff; oversee hiring and termination of staff as needed; define staff roles and responsibilities; oversee staff training and performance reviews; report to the Board regarding staff performance; lead weekly staff meetings.
- Serve as the Historical Society’s primary spokesperson; develop programs and events to further the Society’s mission and presence in the community; work with staff to promote Society events and activities; oversee quarterly newsletter; oversee Society’s social media presence.
- Manage and oversee the maintenance and preservation of the Square House, Knapp House and grounds; report to the Board regarding status of the properties. Position Specification Executive Director 3
- Maintain collections and archives according to museum best practices; catalogue new acquisitions; work with archivist to digitize archives.
- Work with staff to create museum exhibits at Square House Museum.
